Internships

Vogele & Associates interns are tech savvy, second and third year law students who are eager to put their experiences into practice. Interns work with direct supervision from firm lawyers on issues related to copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, internet, new media and privacy law.

Applications are accepted in November for the spring semester, March for the summer term, and July for the fall semester. If you are a second or third year law student with solid academic credentials and demonstrated interest in the fields of copyright and new media, please apply by emailing a writing sample, your transcript, and a list of 2-3 personal references to .

Ilana Sabes spacer

A native of Silicon Valley, Ilana has been interested in intellectual property law since she was very young. After braving four cold winters and earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Organizational Studies at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Ilana was thrilled to come back to California and start law school at UC Hastings in San Francisco. Ilana’s legal experience includes interning for two summers at Quinn Emanuel Urquhart Oliver & Hedges in Los Angeles and one summer in Google’s legal department in Mountain View. Ilana plans to graduate from Hastings in May 2009 with a concentration in intellectual property law and hopes to focus her practice on trademark law.

Kathy Dong

Kathy completed her undergraduate degree at UC Berkeley with a double major in Mass Communications and Legal Studies.  After graduating in 2005, she worked at an independent documentary film foundation in Santa Monica.  There, she accompanied one of the foundation’s documentary features to its international debut at the Sundance Film Festival.  Currently, Kathy is a second year law student at UC Hastings in San Francisco, where she is an active member of the Communications and Entertainment Law Journal and Hastings’ Moot Court Program.

Rebecca Hopkins
Rebecca Hopkins

Upon completion of her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies from the University of California, Los Angeles, Rebecca worked in the literary and book departments at Creative Artists Agency in Beverly Hills.  In 2001 she moved to Manhattan to establish Sony Pictures’ East Coast book department. Wishing to bolster her love of the arts and her experience in the entertainment industry with a law degree, she entered the University of San Francisco School of Law in the Fall of 2005.  During the summer of 2006 she worked at California Lawyers for the Arts. Rebecca is now in her second year of law school and is studying copyright law. She looks forward to becoming a Staff Editor for the USF Intellectual Property Law Bulletin later this semester.

   

Mary Kamikihara
Mary Kamikihara

Mary’s interest in law began while an undergraduate student at the University of California, Berkeley, where she double majored in Legal Studies and Japanese. After graduating in 2004, she enrolled at the University of San Francisco School of Law, where she focuses on Intellectual Property law. Mary is also interested and has experience in other areas of law, including immigration, landlord/tenant, litigation, and criminal law. Last year as a certified law student, Mary successfully defended four separate indigent clients in San Francisco Superior Court. This past summer she externed for the Honorable James Emerson, who is the Presiding Judge of the Criminal Division of Santa Clara County. Currently Mary is interning at Vogele & Associates, and is a student teacher for Torts at USF.

   

Seri Lee

After graduating from the University of California, Berkeley with a Bachelor of Arts in English literature, Seri took a year off before starting at the University of San Francisco School of Law in Fall 2004.   During her second year, she worked with Eric Lawrence, an attorney specializing in commercial real estate transactions and interned with the Austin Law Group over the summer.

Laura LynchLaura Lynch

After graduating from the University of California, San Diego with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature and Writing, and a minor in Biology, Laura began working with Professor Lessig and Creative Commons at Stanford Law School. Inspired by her work experiences at Stanford, she began studying at the University of San Francisco School of Law in the Fall of 2004. During her second year of law school, Laura was a Case Counselor in the USF Moot Court Honors Program, Article Editor for the USF Intellectual Property Law Bulletin and Clinical Intern at Vogele & Associates. Laura is currently working as a summer associate for Bradshaw & Associates and looks forward to working as Managing Editor for the Intellectual Property Law Bulletin next year.
