Colette is a technology attorney with a passion for solving complex legal and policy challenges, especially in the cross-hairs of technology and emerging businesses.

In addition to general product counseling (including hardware, software, online services), she is an expert in intellectual property, privacy, compliance, media, marketing and ad law. Her experience includes managing a team at Meta Reality Labs (formerly Facebook Reality Labs and Oculus) that worked to solve some of the most complex legal and business issues faced in emerging technology and augmented and virtual reality. Additionally, as Director of Intellectual Property Policy (Brussels) for Microsoft Corp., she led the company’s IP policy work in the EMEA region. For Microsoft she also held senior roles in copyright and marketing where she also led work relating to data privacy and security compliance specific to marketing and advertising law.

In 2011, Colette co-founded Without My Consent, a NGO providing resources and training to combat online harassment. Without My Consent wound down in December 2019 and transferred its groundbreaking work to the Cyber Civil Rights Initiative. Prior to joining Microsoft and founding Without My Consent, Colette worked in private practice including several years of patent litigation (at Weil Gotshal) and five years running a boutique start-up law practice in San Francisco. Vogele Law PLLC is a continuation of Colette’s boutique practice from San Francisco, however re-imagined with the context of her extensive in-house experience and with a specific a goal to help elevate other women in the profession.
